(Mat 28:18-20) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. {19} “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, {20} “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
We seem to view a person’s last words as very important. There is no small talk before one is taken away permanently. After Jesus rose and before He ascended to the Father, He gave forth these words that we know as the Great Commission. Jesus is commissioning his disciples to go spread the good news of His love to everyone on earth! What a task!! They went everywhere preaching Jesus and many were won to the Lord. So much so that even today the Word has been spread around the globe. Good news travels fast!!
But the Great Commission is not fulfilled. We also are the Lord’s disciples and we are called to go into the world with the Answer. The apostles have been long gone. Now it’s our turn to carry the torch into the darkness.
You might not be called to go out on the mission field, but you are a missionary to those people around you. You might not be able to win theworld to Christ but you can win your world to Christ. There are famous evangelists winning many souls to Christ these days but they can’t reach the people around you. But you can! If we all started praying for the lost around us and sought God on how to reach them, then we would be winning our individual circle to Christ. Then as a corporate effort, we would be winning the whole planet for Jesus!
You have been commissioned by the King of kings . . . are you ready to go forth in His name?
