On April 1, 2016, we followed the open door that God had miraculously for us to move to the Boulder, Colorado area. Exactly one year earlier, our friends had started a church plant in Boulder called REACH.
In the short time that we have been here, we have seen God work in ways that we could never have planned. Our pastor, Kevin, was asked to lead a local congregation as their Senior Pastor, which then left an opening to lead the Outreach in Boulder. Kevin then asked Joel to lead REACH as we continue to pursue what God has in store for the church plant. We now help out at the local congregation, Calvary Chapel Broomfield, and then dedicate our Outreach efforts to the people of Boulder.
Boulder is a very progressive, post-Christian town. It has the liberal UC Boulder, a large wealthy population, and also is a hotspot for transients. Our church meets in the lower level of a building just on the edge of the college in an area named “The Hill”. It is home to most of the fraternity and sorority houses as well as gritty, college food and snack shops.
Our dream is to see revival break out among the diverse people of Boulder. God has begun to bring unity to the different groups that work in His name, but much more is needed. The next exciting step that we have begun to see God open is a coffee shop that is located across the street from our Outreach. We are hoping to take over the lease in the coming year in order to have an everyday presence among the students and residents of The Hill, and also to have a safe meeting place for any Christian group.
Please pray for:
– Protection and wisdom as we seek to reach the lost of Boulder, CO
– Unity among the Christian groups in Boulder and on the University campus
– Provision and wisdom for the coffee shop opening
